The event, which encourages young people to test their mettle by swimming, biking and running their way to the finish line, will take place on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at Clearwater Beach in St. David’s. The main competition is open to children aged 7 to 15 years, while youngsters aged 3 to 6 years-old are able to take part in their first fun triathlon experience through the Tiny Tots race.
The top three boys and girls finishers in the 11-15 category can also vie for the chance to win scholarship funds in a Clarien Iron Kids account. First place will receive $1,000, second $500 and third $250.
Michael DeCouto, Clarien’s Senior Vice President, Chief Digital and Marketing Officer, is encouraging as many young people as possible to participate in Iron Kids 2019, with the event open to a maximum of 400 participants.

“Clarien is extremely proud to have hosted this community-driven event since its inception in 1988,” said Mr. DeCouto. “Iron Kids allows young people from all backgrounds living in Bermuda to compete in a traditional swim, bike and run junior triathlon. For many of them it is their first time experiencing a triathlon of this kind and sparks in them a love for different kinds of sport and competition.”
Past Iron Kid participants include world class triathletes Flora Duffy and Tyler Butterfield.
This year’s event is expected to bring a jam-packed afternoon of excitement for the whole family, thanks to the inclusion of Carnival festivities – including fun castles, face painting, great food and other free games and activities starting at noon [12pm].
Registration for the Clarien Iron Kids Triathlon opens today [Monday, May 13] and costs $8 for Tiny Tots, aged 3-6; or $15 for Triathletes aged 7-15.
