Dept: Water Discoloration, No Pollution Concerns

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources is advising that there is “slight water discoloration in the St. George’s area near the Causeway.

“Discoloration of the water is due to fine sediment washing over the ground near the wastewater treatment plant, as a result of a new backup disposal borehole being drilled,” a spokesperson said.

“The drilling has now ceased and alternative filtration techniques are being investigated to address sediment ahead of the drilling continuing.

“There are currently no pollution concerns and the Department notes that there is no risk to the public.”
