Football: BFA Announce Team For Gold Cup

The BFA has named the list of 23 players who will participate in the match against Guyana on Thursday, June 6th.

A spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Football Association is pleased to announce the names of the final list of 23 players as selected by the Technical Staff who will be called upon to kick-off the Bermuda National Team’s participation in the 2019 edition of the Concacaf Gold Cup.

“The list of players is representative of those who participated in the Concacaf Nations League Qualifying Tournament and those drafted into the squad who the coaches deemed capable of strengthen the quality of the team. These players were chosen from the provisional list of 40 players that were submitted to Concacaf on May 16th.

“The following players will participate in the upcoming international match against the Guyana National Team on Thursday, June 6th at the National Sports Center kickoff at 8:00 p.m.:

“Bermuda will face Haiti in the opening match on Sunday, June 16th at the Estadio Nacional, in San Jose, Costa Rica followed by Costa Rica at the Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas on Thursday, June 20th. Their final group stage match will be held in the Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey on Monday, June 24th.

“This Concacaf Gold Cup marks a significant achievement for Bermuda having qualified for a major international tournament for the first time in many years.

“Many of the players have come through the BFA Member Clubs youth and senior teams and the BFA’s National Academy Program when it was created in 2008 at the Clyde Best Center of Excellence. All of Bermuda should be very proud of the players and coaches who have dedicated many hours and years and have endured many highs and lows to arrive at this moment in our history.

“Fans wishing to support the team are encouraged to purchase their ticket and come to the National Sports Center next week Thursday to cheer on our players during their match versus Guyana and let’s give them a positive send-off to the Gold Cup. Tickets are $25 for general admission, $15 for Seniors and Children U12. VIP Tickets are $75. Paid parking is also available.

“Those fans still wishing to travel overseas to one of the matches can purchase the match tickets from the BFA Office in Prospect any time from Monday to Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Fans are encouraged to wear your pink or blue jersey beginning next week Monday as we continue our journey to the Gold Cup.

“The Bermuda Football Association Executive Council, the National Team players, Coaches and Staff appreciate the tremendous support and ask that we continue supporting the National Team in their quest for Concacaf Gold Cup glory!”
