Free FinTech Online Education Opportunity

The Government’s FinTech Business Unit said they are launching a “free online program” with the San Francisco-based FinTech School.

A Government spokesperson said, “As part of the Bermuda Government’s FinTech Education Programme, the FinTech Business Unit announced today the launching of a free online program with The FinTech School, a San Francisco based company that provides FinTech related courses and training.

“This online education opportunity is open for all interested persons allowing access to all of the courses available through the FinTech School.

“This is an exciting opportunity for Bermuda, as the Government continues to sponsor training and education opportunities in this industry.” said Premier Burt.

“In January of this year, the Bermuda Government’s FinTech Business Unit, launched Phase One of their FinTech Education Programme, which generated a lot of interest and was well subscribed.”

“Our partnership with the FinTech School is part of the second phase of this education programme. As Bermuda’s FinTech push continues to bear fruit, with more companies setting up on the island, the view and the vision of this Government is to establish a sound regulatory environment and to establish an excellent place where companies can look to do business. Through FinTech Education, we are working to make sure that our local talent has the knowledge and skills necessary to participate in this space.”

The Government added, “The education programmes are designed to meet the needs of all sectors of the community, irrespective of an individual’s experience level.

“FinTech School is a San Francisco based company that was started by serial entrepreneurs and ex Wall Street professionals. Their mission is to improve financial literacy, spur economic growth, and bank the unbanked by providing FinTech and Blockchain training and content to Financial institutions, governments, universities and individuals.”

“We are very excited to work alongside Dr. Gina Tucker and the Government of Bermuda. This is a major milestone for us to have this opportunity to continue our mission to accelerate economies. Through this partnership, we can have an impact to foster economic growth via job creation, banking the unbanked, and stimulating new industries to flourish within Bermuda,” said Amilcar Chavarria, CEO of the FinTech School.

The Government added, “Participants enrolled in the FinTech School will have access to a bundle of courses that are self-paced.

The courses being offered are:

  • Blockchain 101
  • Crowdfunding 101
  • Robo-Advisors 101
  • InsurTech 101
  • Intro to Startups
  • Alternate Lending: Emerging Markets
  • Al in FinTech
  • Blockchain essentials
  • Stablecoin 101

“The FinTech School programs have also been licensed by major enterprises in the US and Asia. In three years, FinTech School has trained over 40 banks, 12 universities and 2,000+ students from over 75 countries.

“Interested persons should go to www.fintech.bm/freetraining to access the online courses, from today until midnight on Sunday 17th November, 2019. The code for those who wish to access the courses online in Bermuda only, is “FTB”.”
