There was an exciting conclusion to the 2019 Johnnie Walker Classic at Ocean View Golf Club this weekend, as Chaka DeSilva was crowned as 2019 champion after defeating Dwayne Pearman in a sudden death playoff on hole #18.
“Having both scored 141 in regulation play, the duo teed up on the par 3 18th hole. Chaka hit his ball over the back of the green but had a fortunate bounce off the coral wall and landed on the back fringe. He was able to chip to within a foot of the pin and make his putt for par. Dwayne Pearman came up short and chipped a few feet past the hole and missed the putt coming back for a bogey,” a spokesperson said.
2019 Johnnie Walker Classic Champion, Chaka DeSilva receiving his prize from Mr. Harrison Simons, a Past President and one of the original Executive Committee members of Ocean View Golf & Country Club established in 1953.
“In the Open Division, Mark Ray put on a fine show and won his division by one stroke over Damian Palanyandi, the 2018 reigning champion.
“The Senior Division was also closely contested with Jeffrey Lindo winning on a tie break over Quinton Sherlock Sr.
.
“The 63 players who participated in the event were rewarded with some great weather conditions despite the forecast rain for the 2nd round and there was some very good golf displayed during the two days of play. Please click here to view the results online.
