Six More Medals Won At Island Games
Bermuda collected six more medals during yet another day of competition of the NatWest International Island Games going on in Gibraltar.
Athletics
Shianne Smith won the silver medal competing in the Women’s 400m Hurdles crossing the line in a time of 1:04.49
Sailing
As a team Bermuda with Jordan Etemadi, Kalin Hillier, Scott Mello and Adriana Penruddocke won the bronze medal with a score of 200.
After Nine Races in the Laser Radial Rig Fleet racing Adriana Penruddocke finished 4th with 43 Net Points having finished in the top 10 in eight of the seven races sailed, Jordan Etemadi finished in 16th with 109 Net Points.
In the Laser Standard Rig Fleet, Hillier finished T4th with 41 Net Points, Hillier has seven top 10 finishes of the Nine races sailed, while Mello finished in 16th with 105 Net Points.
Shooting
Adrienne Smatt captured the Women’s ISSF 50m Prone Smallbore Rifle bronze medal when she finished third with 603.3 points, missing the silver medal by .01 point.
Squash
Bermuda finished 2nd in Group C of the Squash Team event, Bermuda edged Gibraltar 3-2, but fell 5-0 to Jersey.
Tin Pin Bowling
The Bermuda Women’s Team of June Dill, Florence Simons, Jennifer Stovell and Patrice Tucker won the bronze medal with 4112 Pins.
Damien Matthews, David Maycock, Blake Raynor and Lamar Richardson making up the Bermuda Men’s Team won the silver medal with 4943 Pins.
Tennis
Gavin Manders picked up the bronze medal although he went down in straight sets in his Men’s Singles Semi-Final 6-2, 6-2 to Oscar Mesquida-Berg from Menorca.
Manders and David Thomas will battle for the gold medal after they won their Semi-Final match in straight sets 7-5, 6-2 over Otto Byman and Henrique Norbiato from Aland.
