Water Street West will be open to vehicular traffic from Customs House Square to Blacksmith Hill effective Monday, 22nd July, 2019.
A spokesperson said, “The Corporation of St. George wishes to advise the public that Water Street West will be open to vehicular traffic from Customs House Square to Blacksmith Hill effective Monday, July 22nd.
“The portion of Water Street West from King’s Square to Customs House Square will remain closed to vehicular traffic between the hours of 10:00a.m. -4:00p.m. on weekdays only.”

why? this makes no sense at all – the whole of the street should be closed. Was there any advance notice of this? any consultation? who made the call, the new Mayor? all the shops and bars are on this street, it is teeming with tourists when a ferry comes in – do they really now have to dodge cars and bikes?
