VIP Cup Match Experience Offered To Visitors

July 12, 2019

Visitors seeking the inside track to Bermuda’s favourite holiday next month can take advantage of a new ‘VIP Cup Match Experience’ launched by the Bermuda Tourism Authority [BTA].

“The initiative, built around this summer’s two-day cricket festival in St. George’s August 1 and 2, follows similarly curated packages for Bermuda’s annual Peppercorn Ceremony and Bermuda Day celebrations,” the BTA said.

“The BTA designed them to give travellers an enhanced understanding of local culture and increase visitor spending. Special perks offered in the $60 ticket include fast-track entry, reserved seating, complimentary refreshments – plus, tips on how to gamble, what to sample, and who to root for.

“One of the best ways to make visitors feel right at home is to immerse them in our cultural traditions,” said BTA Chief Experience Development Officer Glenn Jones.

“Creating cultural experiences that are frictionless and totally immersive has been a winning strategy, based on the feedback we’ve heard from the Peppercorn Ceremony and Bermuda Day.

“Now, we’re trying the same thing with Cup Match, the biggest cultural tradition of the year. If past experience is a guide, this curated Cup Match offering will create Instagram-worthy vacation moments for visitors and a rich understanding of summer life out here.”

Me Jones noted Bermuda is attracting more experience enthusiasts, identified as one of four key target visitor segments in the BTA’s National Tourism Plan [2019–20].

The VIP Cup Match Experience includes:

  • Gate entry to Wellington Oval, St. George’s Cricket Club [$20 value]
  • VIP Fast-track gate access
  • Special reserved field viewing of the game
  • Complimentary drinks
  • A meet & greet with past and current cricket players

VIP Experience packages for each day can be purchased online at ptix.bm/vipcupmatch and collected at the Visitor Services Centre on Front Street, Hamilton. Cup Match opening hours run 10 am – 6 pm Thursday, August 1 and Friday, August 2.
