Women’s Football: Bermuda Defeat Suriname

Bermuda played their third match in the Women’s Under 20 CONCACAF Championships, recording a strong victory against Suriname, with the Lady Gombey Warriors earning an impressive 6-1 victory.

Playing at the National Track and Field Center Leonora in Guyana, Bermuda’s starting line up included Zahkari Turner, Koa Goodchild, Jenna Rempel, Zemira Webb, Trinae Edwards, Danni Watson, Emily Cabral, Nia Christopher, Jade Stewart, Adia Gibbons, and Ryley Simmons

On the stroke of half time Nia Christopher found the back of the net to give Bermuda a 1 – 0 lead, and Bermuda doubled the lead early in the second half as Ryley Simmons scored, and one minute later the score moved to 3 – 0 as Simmons scored her second goal of the game.

Suriname then pulled a goal back in the 60th minute, but Christopher restored Bermuda’s 3 goal lead one minute later.

Bermuda then score the 6th goal of the game and their 5th of the 86th minute when Simmons completed her hat-trick and then in stoppage time Christopher completed her hat-trick in earning Bermuda the 6 – 1 victory.
