$187K Donated To Red Cross For Dorian Relief

Over $187,000 has been donated to the Bermuda Red Cross to assist the Bahamas after they sustained catastrophic damage in Hurricane Dorian.

“The official death toll across the Bahamas is 52. But that number is expected to skyrocket, with 1,300 people still missing two weeks after the hurricane,” CNN reported this weekend.

A spokesperson said, “Notwithstanding Bermuda making a remarkable recovery from Category 3 Hurricane Humberto, we would like to update our community regarding their continued generosity toward the citizens of Bahamas.

“To date we have received $187,573.37, with donations being received daily. These funds will be sent to the British Red Cross, who will in turn transfer all monies to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent. The fund will be utilized in the following ways:-

  • Shelter Management
  • Livelihoods & Basic Needs
  • Health
  • Water, Sanitation & Hygiene
  • Protection, Gender & Inclusion
  • Migration
  • Disaster Risk Reduction

“Also in partnership with Goslings, we will be having ‘Happy Hour For A Cause’ at the Goslings Wine Cellar on Friday, October 4th, from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. cost is $50 per person, All proceeds will go towards the Bahamas relief fund.
