Bermuda Trio Help Holland College Win Twice

The Holland College women’s soccer teams were two-for-two in their Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association [ACAA] regular season games.

Jade Stewart, Jazae Smith and Symira Lowe-Darrell and their Holland College women’s soccer teammates picked up a 4 – 1 win over the Dalhousie Agricultural Campus [Dal AC] Rams at the Terry Fox Sports Complex in Cornwall, PEI, before defeating the Crandall University Chargers 9 – 1 in Moncton, New Brunswick.

Emily Lepine put Holland College on the board in the 13th minute, but Dalhousie Agricultural Campus bounced back in the 24th minute with a goal off a free kick to tie things up, sending the teams to the locker rooms tied at 1-1.

Holland College turned it on in the second half when Lowe-Darrell scored in the 63rd minute with a laser shot that found the back of the Dalhousie Agricultural Campus net. Calandra Bychyk added another in the 67th minute when she headed home a corner kick to put Holland College up 3-1.

Smith finished things off in the 68th minute when she scored to give Holland College the 4 – 1 lead. Nicole McInnis was the winning goalkeeper for Holland College.

Then Holland College ran away with the game in the second half, scoring seven goals versus the Crandall Chargers on route to a 9 – 1 victory.

Lepine opened the game with a goal just six minutes in, with Lowe-Darrell adding another in the 27th minute to give Holland College a 2-0 lead at the half.

Holland College increased the pressure in the second half, with Stewart scoring a hat-trick in the 47th, 52nd and 65th minutes, Lepine adding a second in the 54th minute, Smith scoring two minutes later and Emily Cormier scoring in the 62nd and 63rd minutes; Crandall replied with their only goal in the 56th minute.
