Concacaf & UNICEF USA To Support Bahamas
The Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football [Concacaf] is teaming up with UNICEF USA to bring awareness to relief efforts in the Bahamas following the terrible impact of Hurricane Dorian.
A spokesperson said, “Concacaf and their Member Associations, through the Nations League matches taking place across the region in October and November, will use their collective reach and influence to raise awareness for UNICEF’s emergency work and fundraising.
“UNICEF is delivering hugely important programs in the Bahamas, including providing basic needs and supplies for families, and helping children displaced by the hurricane get back to school as soon as possible.
“Concacaf will support UNICEF by including fundraising calls on a range of match-day inventory across the upcoming Nations League games, including LED signage and public announcements to fans. Concacaf will also use its digital and social media channels to raise awareness for UNICEF’s efforts, and facilitate on-air UNICEF support through its broadcast partners. Fans can also join Concacaf in supporting UNICEF by visiting donate here.
“UNICEF USA is grateful for Concacaf’s support in bringing needed attention to ongoing recovery efforts in the Bahamas, especially the children and families whose lives have been uprooted after Hurricane Dorian,” said Shelley Diamond, Chief Marketing Officer, UNICEF USA. “By integrating UNICEF’s lifesaving mission into this tournament, we’re collectively empowering fans to support ongoing relief efforts while highlighting the power of sports to bring people together and make a difference.”
“The Bahamas suffered enormously from the impact of Hurricane Dorian and our thoughts remain with the communities that lost loved ones, and the many people still working hard to rebuild their lives” said Concacaf President Victor Montagliani. “At Concacaf we believe in using the power and reach of football to support our region and we are committed to helping raise awareness for UNICEF’s essential relief efforts. We will also continue supporting our friends and colleagues at the Bahamas FA who have shown an incredible bond with their local community during this difficult time.”
