Elan Daley Breaks 20 & 30 Year Old Records
Elan Daley recently competed in the Hall of Fame Swim Meet held at the Etobicoke Olympian.
Daley was on the podium eight times and broke three Bermuda records along the way, competing in the Girls 13/14 Year Old Age Group Division.
During the 100m Butterfly, Daley touched the wall in a time of 1.03.25, which saw her finish second; her time broke Emma Harvey’s previous time of 1:04.04 set back on December 13, 2015.
Daley then broke the 100m Breaststroke record time of 1:15.09 by Jennifer Smatt that stood for 30 years, set back on June 1, 1989 when she won the gold medal with a time of 1.14.60.
Daley was not done with breaking long standing records as she broke the 50m Breaststroke record time of 35.37 set by Ashley Aitken 20 years ago on June 1, 1999; she clocked a gold medal time of 33.46.
It was more gold medal glory for Daley as she won the 50m Freestyle, touching the wall in a time of 26.15, she also won gold in the 100m Freestyle with a time of 55.82.
During the 50m Backstroke, Daley clocked a winning time of 30.81, before finishing third in the 100m Backstroke clocking 1:04.99.
Daley closed out with a gold medal performance during the 50m Butterfly when she clocked 29.00.
