Premier, Ministers Meet With Union Officials

Premier David Burt, Minister of Labour, Community Affairs and Sports Lovitta Foggo, Minister of National Security Wayne Caines, and Minister for the Cabinet Office Wayne Furbert met with representatives of the Island’s unions to discuss an array of labour related matters.

“The Bermuda Public Services Union, the Bermuda Union of Teachers, Prison Officers Association, Bermuda Police Association, Bermuda Musicians Union and the Electricity Supply Trade Union were represented at the quarterly meeting which took place at the Cabinet Office.

“Discussions during the meeting focused the approach to upcoming negotiations; employee training; innovative technologies and the impact they have on the workforce; planned revisions to Bermuda’s Labour laws; and additions to restricted work permit categories. The Premier noted the value of regular engagement with Bermuda’s unions in ensuring harmonious industrial relations.”

Speaking shortly after the meeting, the Premier said, “Our unions are invaluable partners and we continue to engage on matters of importance.

“We are committed to advancing the rights of workers, both in the public and private sectors, ensuring that they have a healthy and positive workplace. It is important that we meet regularly so that we can continue to build good industrial relations, working together for a better and fairer Bermuda.”

Minister Foggo said, “This Government remains committed to enhancing the rights of Bermuda’s workers. In that regard, we will continue to work with our unions to cultivate improved organisational performance, which will ultimately benefit the Government, the employees, and by extension the people of Bermuda.”

    “Invaluable partners” indeed Mr Burt. Anybody with an ounce of sense knows that the triumvirate of the Unions, the People’s Campaign and another were key components of the PLP’s election victory.

    AI is coming we need to having something in place to replace our current structure of live = work to get pay.
    it should be changed to life = given
    life advancement = work to get pay.
    this way when AI take over most of the just we have today people wont have to worry about it causing death how even if they want to advance(gain more than the necessity to not die)this will need to find a additional income.
