Video: Mexico Defeats Bermuda Football Team
Playing in front of a sold out crowd at the National Sports Centre, Mexico defeated the Bermuda football team by a score of 5 – 1, with Nahki Wells scoring the lone goal for Bermuda.
The CNL match report said, “With a pair of goals from Jose Juan Macias and additional goals from Uriel Antuna, Hirving Lozano and Hector Herrera, Mexico rolled past Bermuda 5-1 to start its Concacaf Nations League history off on the right foot in the Bermuda Sports Centre in Hamilton.
“Just before the half-hour mark, Lozano’s pass for Antuna snuck through and the LA Galaxy attacker made no mistake to open the scoring for Mexico.
“The lead was doubled by Macias just before the halftime break, with a first-time finish after Cristian Calderon headed down a ball over the top into the forward’s path. And Macias struck again on the other side of the half, putting in a rebound on a quick counter-attack in the 53rd minute.
“Nahki Wells made sure Bermuda didn’t leave with nothing, smashing home a rolling ball sent in from a corner kick to cut things to 3-1.
“However, Mexico had more goals in it, with Lozano bringing down a ball and firing it in off the bounce to make it four and Herrera finishing from a nearly impossible angle after being set up from a free kick.
“El Tri now head to Mexico City where they’ll meet Panama in their second CNL match.”
