More Than 50 Boats Set For Seagull Race
More than 50 boats are registered for this year’s annual Round the Island Seagull Race, which is scheduled to take place this Saturday [June 27] after being rescheduled from June 20 due to weather conditions.
The annual event, one of Bermuda’s most distinctive marine traditions, will see crews take to the water in small boats powered by classic Seagull outboard engines, making their way around the island, with this year’s event scheduled to start in the west end.
The boats involved often have rather interesting and often uniquely Bermudian names and some of this year’s entrants include Innit, Flea-in-da-scene, A Salt Weapon, Rizla Kalonji, Seagullize It, Sea Ya, Dis Ting is De Rowedent, Slippery Lizard, and more.

Memories of the St. David’s Seagull Club. Bruce Paynter. Victor O’Connor, Nelson Lamb, Edna O’Connor, Nookie Millett, Linda Pitcher, Margo McCallan and many many many more. Home was at the Battery. Races started from Great Bay through Ferry Reach either up North Shore off ADMIRALTY house back down on North Shore thru Ferry Reach or along North Shore into St. George’s channel or back to Black Horse Dock. What a Crew and times had.
Time race starts please.
