City Seeking Submissions For Public Art Intiative

January 30, 2020

The City of Hamilton is seeking submissions for VIVID 2020: The City of Hamilton’s public art initiative.

A spokesperson said, “Over the past five years, the City has reaffirmed its commitment to the arts and our local artists and installed twenty pieces of public art around the City including murals, mosaics and the Chancery Lane lights.

“The VIVID Public Art Initiative is committed to working with and supporting Bermuda’s local art organizations as well as independent artists to help curate and implement public art installations in the City of Hamilton, contributing to its mandate to be a vibrant city. The City’s goal through the art initiative is to bring impactful pieces of accessible art to the City for both locals and visitors to enjoy and celebrate.”

Sideya Dill, Marketing Coordinator, said, ‘This year we’d really like to focus on bringing more sculpture art, or outdoor installations, to the City. We hope that artists will be inspired by our communities and culture to create eye-catching and thought-provoking pieces that truly bring vibrancy to the City. I am excited to be the lead for this project and am truly looking forward to what our local artists will propose to create.’

“Artists interested in submitting a proposal can collect the Request for Proposal documents, outlining the scope of the project, from the City offices in City Hall as of Monday, February 3rd. The documents can also be found on the City’s website as of February 1st.

“All submissions for consideration must be either digitally submitted here or delivered to City Hall reception by Monday, March 2nd at 5:00pm.

“For any questions about the VIVID 2020 Public Art Initiative, please contact Sideya Dill, the Project Coordinator at sdill@cityhall.bm.”
