Video: ‘Taking Off’ On Community Development
Skyport has released the latest episode of ‘Taking Off’, a video series with host Mikaela Pearman that highlights the airport redevelopment project, with this episode highlighting Skyport’s charitable initiatives last year.
Speaking in the episode, Mikaela Pearman said, “Every year Skyport looks for ways to invest in our community by supporting the education, development and overall betterment of our young people. Last year was no exception.
“We worked with a dozen charitable initiatives including schools, sports clubs and charities.
“We kicked off 2019 with sponsorship of the Bermuda Pacer’s Track Club’s Skyport Magic Mile and are looking forward to it again next month.
“We worked with Fresh Creations’ Fresh Start programme, which aims to educate young people in media arts.
“Bermuda Centre for Creative Learning, a school for students with language-based learning differences was another organsation we partnered with in 2019.
“We also invested in BIOS’s STEM Initiative to allow school kids, aged 12-15, to participate in the Ocean Science Camp.
“Of course, we raised more than $30,000 at the Airport Charity Classic for SCARS and Tomorrow’s Voices.
“And we worked with Devonshire Colts, specifically their youth programme.
“In all, Skyport invested over $100k in our young people last year and we can’t wait to do so again in 2020.”
