Ball Hockey: Lumberjacks & Americans Win
Sixteen goals were scored in a recent Bermuda ball hockey double-header at the PCC Hockey Rink, with the Lumberjacks and Americans picking up wins.
Muskegon Lumberjacks 7 – Red Army 5
The Muskegon Lumberjacks defeated the Red Army 7 – 5 in a see-saw battle that saw them score four goals in the third period to secure the win.
Craig Macneil scored twice in the first period for the Muskegon Lumberjacks, while Christopher Merritt scored a goal for the Red Army as the Lumberjacks held a 2 – 1 lead after one.
The Red Army outscored the Lumberjacks 3 – 1 in the second period to take a 4 – 3 lead. Merritt added his second and Christopher Jackson and Hart Freedman added the others, while Brandon Willett scored the lone goal in the period for the Lumberjacks.
In the final period, the Lumberjacks got two goals from Willett to complete his hat trick, while Alex Ostrov also added two goals and Jackson scored his second goal for the Red Army.
Allen Americans 3 – Manitoba Moose 1
In the nightcap, the Allen Americans defeated the Manitoba Moose 3 – 1.
The Americans got two goals from Ronnie Dzurus, while Ian Beaudoin added the other. The lone Manitoba Moose goal came off the stick of Greg Van Der Made.
