MoonGate Group Give Back On Valentine’s Day

February 13, 2020

MoonGate Group will be celebrating Valentine’s Day by giving back to the community, with the staff planning to distribute health and hygienic packages to some of the island’s vulnerable people.

After reading an article entitled ‘Forum hears of pain for homeless centre’, MoonGate’s Chantel Simons took the initiative to figure how her company can play a part in giving back. She took her concept to CEO Leon Bascome, who wholeheartedly agreed with her idea.

Ms. Simons, who is the Business Development Officer at MoonGate, then reached out to partner organizations and friends and created ‘We Care’ packages.

They consist of useful health/hygienic items, including toothbrush/toothpaste sets donated by Caesar’s Pharmacy; body wash, deodorant and body spray donated by Butterfield & Vallis; and washcloths donated by Mr. & Mrs. Shawn Hollis and Mr. & Mrs. Cardell Carter. MoonGate has added other items, including water and nutrition bars.

Ms. Simons said, “I’d like to thank the organizations and persons involved, as they were eager and excited to participate in this initiative right away. Collectively, we wish to assist in helping vulnerable persons in our community and of course we at MoonGate wish to promote health; instead of candy, we’re choosing carnations to put a smile on their faces”.

The MoonGate staff will spend Valentine’s Day in the community distributing the 100 packages to various parts of the island.

Mr. Bascome said, “I commend Ms. Simons on her drive and generosity; her spirit embodies how we feel about our entire community and our clients: we really do care. This is a microcosm of what is truly required but we have to start somewhere; we all need to do more to be part of the solution.”

Ms. Simons says that the MoonGate Group hopes to make this an annual initiative and she wants to expand it by adding more items and the reach of the ‘We Care’ package.
