Video Game Design Challenge This March

Bermuda Island Games will be hosting its first annual “Game Design Challenge” this March, with the company saying they want to “encourage Bermuda residents to show off their creative skills and build their own games.”

A spokesperson said, “Local development company Bermuda Island Games, under the parent company Supatone Ltd., has formally announced the first annual competition for designing a video game this March at Warwick Academy.”

Founder Adrian Lodge said, “We have seen local talent in terms of playing games, or E-Sports, but we also want to encourage Bermuda residents to show off their creative skills and build their own games as well.

“This competition will help to get like-minded people to work on something they are passionate about and use modern technology to do it.”

“The video game design challenge will include an introduction to basic video game design on Friday March 27th, and teams will work on designing their game on Saturday March 28th.

“The competition will feature several local experts in digital artwork, programming and entrepreneurship to help them out. This challenge is available to anyone interested, aged 14 and up, who has an idea, or wants to learn more about building their own game.

“Thanks to sponsors Digicel, Chubb, BEDC, John Barritt & Sons Ltd., Siam Spa, Red Laser and Bermuda E-Sports League there is no entry fee for participants. It is free for the first 50 people who sign up at www.bermudaislandgames.com.

“There will be food available during the event, as well as prizes handed out, including the opportunity to work with Bermuda Island Games to publish your game internationally. Make sure you sign up today as space is limited.”
