Video: Police Confirm Four Gun Incidents

February 4, 2020

[Updated] The Bermuda Police Service held a press conference this afternoon [Feb 4], with the police confirming that they responded to “four separate firearms incidents yesterday.”

They said that the first incident was brought to their attention at about 9.30am yesterday morning about an incident that occurred at about 1.00am when a firearm was discharged into a house in Warwick.

The second incident occurred at about 2.30pm yesterday afternoon when a 26-year-old male was shot multiple times on North Shore Road in Devonshire.

The third and fourth incidents occurred in Warwick at about 6.45pm where a firearm was discharged — “about five rounds” — through the kitchen door of a residence.

Superintendent Nicholas Pedro said that “two brothers, aged 25 and 21, were at the residence, believed to be in the company of other men at the time when that shooting occurred.”

He added that while the police were investigating that incident they become aware of another incident nearby where a firearm was discharged and the man “was able to escape the shooters.”

Update 2.40pm: Shadow National Security Minister Ben Smith said, “In the wake of four separate gun incidents yesterday, I would appeal for calm in the community, so this does not escalate into something even worse.

“The community must also speak up. You know who the culprits are, you must play your part and ensure those responsible are put behind bars.

“The community also knows how these guns and ammunition are getting into Bermuda. Those people need to come forward and help police.

“We must continue to build on the good work last year when Bermuda recorded no homicides.

“Everyone must play their part to ensure there are no homicides in 2020.”

So the cops want to refuse to release certain video and neglect to report shootings until put on the spot by media then want the public to help and Ben Smith blames ‘the community’ for not revealing who the culprits are or how guns are brought in, since we ‘know’ according to him, wow.
