Football: BFA Awards 3 Points To Somerset

The Bermuda Football Association [BFA] awarded 3 points to Somerset Cricket Club following the abandoned Premier Division match between them and the Southampton Rangers on Sunday, March 1st.

A spokesperson said, “Please take note of the following decision regarding the abandoned Premier Division match between SCC / S’Rangers on Sunday, March 1, 2020. In accordance with the Clause 2 p [i] of the Divisional Rules of Competition which states:

“In all cases were the Committee is satisfied that a game has been abandoned owing to the conduct of one team or membership organization or its/their members, fans, or any spectators attending the match they shall award the points and a score of 3-0 for the game to its opponents and take what other action they may deem necessary.

“In the event that the offending team is losing by a score that is greater than 3-0 at the time of the abandonment, the Committee shall record the score at the time of the abandonment.

“Therefore, the Competitions Committee has ruled to apply the sanctions as listed in Clause 2 p [i] and award 3 points to Somerset Cricket Club and record a score of 3-0.”
