Covid-19: Cricket Board Cancel Camps, Training

March 19, 2020

The Bermuda Cricket Board has canceled/postponed the Pee Wee Clinic, the Easter Action Cricket Camp, and the weekly Senior National Team training due to the ongoing global Covid-19 pandemic.

A spokesperson said, “Due to the uncertainties of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Executive of the BCB has decided to cancel both the Pee Wee Clinic and the Easter ‘Action Cricket Camp’ Sponsored by Chubb, for the 2020 season.

“As there have been two confirmed cases of the virus, the BCB like many other organisations will remain vigilant, doing our best to keep each other and the island safe.

“These annual programmes are looked forward to by youth cricketers on island, thus making it a difficult decision to cancel them. However, the health and safety of our athletes, staff and parents ultimately comes first.

“Along with these youth progammes, our weekly Senior National Team training has now been postponed and will be continued at a later date in preparation for the upcoming tours.

“The BCB office will be closed but will continue its operations remotely, keeping in close contact with our member clubs, sponsors and the ICC — sharing any updates or new developments.

“We are encouraging all clubs and players to still meet deadlines for league registration and club transfers by submitting electronic copies of forms [located under ‘forms’ on cricket.bm] as soon as possible.

“For any information or concerns in regard to the 2020 cricket season please contact info@cricket.bm or call 292-8958.”
