Three Hotels Announce Temporary Closures
Both Elbow Beach Bermuda and Cambridge Beaches Resort & Spa have announced that they are closing temporarily and/or suspending operations due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Elbow said the “closure is in effect from Sunday, March 22 to Wednesday, May 6, 2020,” while Cambridge Beaches said “our suspended operations will affect bookings purchased, from March 16 to March 31.”
This follows after an announcement yesterday that Rosedon Hotel will temporarily cease hotel operations as of today.
Elbow Beach Hotel
The Elbow Beach website said, “At Elbow Beach Bermuda our first priority is the health and well-being of our guests and staff. Our current status on Island is to implement immediate actions to restrict the spread of this infectious virus. Therefore, effective March 17th, the government has issued a self-quarantine mandate for all arriving guests, for 14 days from arrival.
“Due to this precautionary measure and knowing our guests prefer to be out and about on our wonderful island, Elbow Beach Bermuda will close temporarily. This closure is in effect from Sunday, March 22 to Wednesday, May 6, 2020. On any existing guest reservations, we would like to offer a 1-year rollover allowing you to keep your deposit on the books for travel one year from your original travel date.
“Guests are responsible for any rate differentials if they decide to stay with us between May 6th and September 3rd, 2020. We will not extend any off-season promotions. Only applicable promotions during the requested time of travel will be applied.
“We look forward to welcoming you back to our beautiful island when it is safe to return. We continue to work diligently with local authorities to ensure correct health and safety protocols are in place on our property.”
Cambridge Beaches Resort & Spa
The Cambridge Beaches Resort & Spa website said, “After considerable thought and careful deliberation, Cambridge Beaches Resort & Spa has made the difficult decision to suspend operations mid-night Saturday, March 21st in response to the evolving COVID-19 health crisis. The health of our employees, guests and community are our top priority in this uncertain time.
“The suspension includes all restaurants, spa and lodging. Lodging, restaurant, and spa services will remain open for those guests currently lodging at Cambridge Beaches Resort & Spa, until the evening of Saturday, March 21st.
“We are following the guidance of the Bermuda Government and will reopen once the mandatory 14 day quarantine is lifted for all arriving guests. Our suspended operations will affect bookings purchased, from March 16 to March 31.
“In the event of any extension of this timeframe our team will contact all affected clients personally with the goal of postponing and/or rescheduling vacation plans, group stays and events to such time as we are fully operational.
“We also recognize this will significant impact our employees who make Cambridge Beaches Resort & Spa the beautiful and unique place so many love. We are in close communications with our employees, and we are assisting them through this challenging time.
“We know how much Cambridge Beaches Resort & Spa means to each of you as it does to each of us. This has been an incredibly difficult decision, taken only after careful monitoring of the unfolding crisis. We appreciate your loyalty, and we look forward to seeing you later this spring.”
