Vision Bermuda Continues To Support Clients

March 23, 2020

Despite closing on March 20 due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Vision Bermuda is still working to assist its more vulnerable clients.

A spokesperson said, “Like many other business and facilities on the island, on March 20 Vision Bermuda [formerly Bermuda Society for the Blind] closed its offices until further notice.

“The staff are, however, still available to assist our more vulnerable clients who are most at risk and may have urgent needs and very limited or no support.

“We are making calls daily to many of our more vulnerable clients, checking how they are doing, ensuring they are accessing essential public health information and talking to them about how they can best protect themselves.

“They all have the direct cell number to Vince Godber, our Vision Rehabilitation Professional, who they can reach out to at any time. He will be ensuring all is well with them. We will help them to access what they need; food, supplies, meals, medications, up-to-date information, or maybe just reassurance.

“We are committed to keeping our clients safe.

“Other clients, members, or friends of Vision Bermuda who may have concerns are able to call our regular number on 292 3231 and reach Dionne Glasford, our Office Administrator, through BTC’s forwarding facility. Dionne will do everything she can to assist and will make any necessary referrals.

“In these unprecedented times we need to ensure everyone in our community has someone to turn to and someone looking out for them. Please make sure your own neighbours are safe and have access to important medications, food and other basics.”
