West Jet Flight For Students In Canada
The Bermuda Government — through negotiations with the Canadian Consulate and West Jet — have arranged for Bermudian students still in Canada to be flown home, and a West Jet flight will depart from Toronto on Sunday.
A Government spokesperson said, “The Ministry of Tourism and Transport advises that the Bermuda Government, through negotiations with the Canadian Consulate and West Jet, have arranged for Bermudian students still in Canada to be flown home.
“At 2:00 pm on Sunday 22 March, West Jet [WS 2710] will depart from Toronto, Canada, Pearson Airport [YYZ] bound for Bermuda and is scheduled to depart that evening at 6:30 pm for a Toronto return.
“Outside of the passengers deplaning in Bermuda, the flight crew will remain on board preparing for the return flight and will later return to Toronto with the new passengers.
“Bermudian students in Canada and Canadian Nationals in Bermuda who wish to return home are advised to take advantage of this opportunity and purchase a ticket online at West Jet Airline’s website as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
“Government is aware of many Bermudian students stranded in Canada and Canadian Nationals in Bermuda unable to secure a flight back home,” said Minister of Tourism and Transport Zane DeSilva, “Thanks to the assistance of the Canadian Consulate and West Jet, we are able to provide an opportunity for them to fly back home to be with their families.”
“To that end, I ask all members of the public to help get the word out by sharing this opportunity with their friends, family, and on social media. We must all help to get our loved ones back home.”
“With that said, when we finally see our loved ones, emotions will get the best of us. And so I must remind and encourage everyone to protect themselves and help prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Bermuda by following the instructions provided by the Ministry of Health.”
“Every returning resident will be required to self-quarantine for 14 days to help limit any possible spread of COVID 19. Should any person not have the ability to effectively self-quarantine at their residence, facilities have been identified to accommodate them.
“A comprehensive health declaration form is required to be completed for returning residents. The form will be required to be completed upon arrival or can be completed online in advance: http://forms.gov.bm/covid19.

Can they do that for UK students as well??
Is there a reason why this was only arranged for Canadian students? Why wasn’t this made possible for UK students as well?
Just wondering why this is only being done for Canadian students and not being done for UK students?
Does anyone have any Info about the Delta Flight? I have called the hotline and cant get any info.
What about students that remain in the U.K. I had my sons ticket changed to Sunday before they announced the travel ban and have now lost out on him being able to return home, but yet a flight can be arranged to have students from Canada to return. I am glad for those students and parents but it sucks for me and other parents who are in the same situation.
I would imagine that Bermuda students in England are considered to be on home soil . No repatriation needed . Further more other than the internal administration within Bermuda. I would think that our protection borders etc would be done by the United Kingdom on times like these.
As Westjet is able to come into Bermuda is it at all possible to allow one more flight from England to come into Bermuda so the bermudian students that want to come home can come home?
When an airport is closed it means closed.
Will these individuals have to quarantine and will our government put protocols in place to be sure they do?
