June 10, 2020

Bermuda College is getting set to re-open its campus on July 6 as Bermuda enters the third phase of re-opening amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

A spokesperson said, “Bermuda College is scheduled to re-open its campus on Monday, July 6 as the island enters the third phase of recovery.

“College President Dr. Duranda Greene said ensuring campus safety has been priority one as staff prepare to return to campus after working at home for more than three months.”

Dr. Greene said, “I look forward to welcoming our staff back in July and to welcoming our faculty and students back in August. I think everyone will appreciate the new safety measures we’ve instituted.”

The spokesperson said, “Among the changes for next month are:

  • “All staff and visitors will be required to wear a mask or facial covering while traversing the campus, in common areas, or while interacting with others.
  • “Physical distancing will be mandatory, and markers will be in place in buildings and around campus as reminders.
  • “Security personnel will be on hand to ensure protocols and physical distancing guidelines are being followed.
  • “Employees and visitors will be required to have their temperatures checked upon arrival.

“In August:

  • “Most of the classes in the fall semester will continue to be offered remotely. However, practical classes and labs will be conducted on campus with physical distancing, and smaller class sizes as appropriate.
  • “Campus spaces will be available for students who may not have ideal learning environments at home, as needed.
  • “Student support services will be available both remotely and on campus for the Fall semester.

“Registration is open for Fall semester and students are encouraged to register early. Funding is available through the Government Grant and the Bermuda College Foundation. Applications open on July 1 and will be available on the website.
