BMA Continues Phased Reopening Of Offices

June 27, 2020

As the Bermuda Monetary Authority [BMA] continues its phased return to its physical offices, it continues “to comply with the Government’s health guidelines and safety precautions, such as physical distancing and hygiene protocols.”

The BMA said, “The Bermuda Monetary Authority [Authority or BMA] has been operating on a fully remote basis since 20 March to protect the safety of our staff and Bermuda. During this time new licences have been issued, on-site examinations have continued and the BMA has coordinated and engaged in supervisory efforts with foreign regulators.

“The BMA has remained fully accessible, albeit virtually.

“On 11 June, in conjunction with the Government’s phased re-opening of Bermuda, the Authority’s staff began a phased return to the BMA’s physical offices. Stage one of the BMA’s re-opening plan granted access to certain essential personnel based on business need and COVID-19 risk factors.

“Throughout our re-opening process, the Authority will continue to comply with the Government’s health guidelines and safety precautions, such as physical distancing and hygiene protocols [e.g. wearing face masks, enhanced cleaning, etc.]

“At this time and as a safety precaution for our staff, external visitors are not permitted in the BMA’s offices. Furthermore, the BMA will only accept mail/documents electronically. Over the coming months, we will release additional information about our re-opening stages and we will continue to remain fully operative via remote access.

“The BMA remains committed to protecting consumers and Bermuda’s reputation and position as a leading international financial centre, as well as the safekeeping of our employees and the Bermuda public at large.

“We will continue to provide our regular publications, reports and updates through our E-Alert Service, which you can sign up for here.
