1/2 Million In Drugs Seized, Four Arrested
[Updated] More than half a million dollars worth of suspected illegal drugs — including suspected cocaine, cannabis, molly and heroin — was seized in a joint operation that also resulted in four arrests, the police said today.
A police spokesperson said, “More than half a million dollars-worth of suspected illegal drugs seized in joint operation involving the Bermuda Police Service and H.M. Customs.
“The protracted exercise dubbed Operation Triton, also resulted in four arrests as well as more than fourteen thousand dollars in cash.
“The joint initiative included the police Drugs Unit, Intelligence Department and Gang Targeting Unit, working alongside our HM Customs partners. Among the items seized were suspected cocaine, cannabis, molly [MDMA] and heroin.”
Superintendent Nicholas Pedro, Officer in Charge [OIC] Serious Crime, stated: “The investigation into this significant seizure remains ongoing and as such no further information will be provided at this time.
“However, I wish to commend our hard working officers and their colleagues at H.M. Customs for their diligence and use of extensive intelligence gathering and investigative capabilities to prevent the potential threat these items could have posed to the wider community, were they not detected and made it on to the streets.”
Update: Photos of the seizure provided by the police
Not an attack on Bernews as you can only report what’s been given to you .. but does anyone do the who ,what ,when , where and why of reports any more ?
This release has as much detail as a blank sheet of paper .
When did this occur ? Has it been since the re-opening of the airport ? Was the seizure at the airport , the docks , a private business or a residence ?
When did ‘Operation Triton’ actually begin ?
The Police statement of “The investigation into this significant seizure remains ongoing and as such no further information will be provided at this time.” doesn’t mean that by releasing any of the info to questions asked above will alter the outcome of this case.
Well, if it’s an ongoing investigation they can really go into specifics so as to not jeopardize the case.
