Large Smoke Onboard, Burnt-Out Water Pump

On Sunday [June 28] a vessel reported a “large amount of smoke onboard” and it was subsequently determined that the cause of the smoke was a “burnt-out water pump.”

A Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre spokesperson said, “The 30ft P/C Overload contacted Bermuda Radio via 911 call to report a large amount of smoke onboard in the vicinity of Hawkins Island.

“The Bermuda Coast Guard attended and also collected Fire and Rescue staff from Barr’s Bay. It was found that the cause of the smoke was a burnt-out water pump. Overload arranged to be towed back to their moorings by P/C A Little Naughty.”
