Somerset took two of the three cricket men’s games to win the first-ever Cup Match At The Hollow, and Somerset also won the five over women’s game.

Yesterday Somerset took the first of the best of three series by defeating St George’s 210-4 to 184 all out. This morning’s play looked like St George’s had a chance when they bowled Somerset out for 110. Janeiro Tucker was high batsman with 56 and Rohaan Simons chipping in a fine 23. Rodney Trott took three wickets for St George’s while Kenny Phillips took two.

The third game St George’s won the toss and elected to bat in the 20 over match. They put up 227 before being all out with Trott leading the way with a 99. Allen Douglas Jr was next with a well crafted 43. Vance Goater took four wickets for Somerset while eight-year-old Mcaiz Trott taking two to bring his total to six for the three games.

Rohaan Simons led the Somerset batting attack for 40 runs with Tucker adding 39 nine to the total. Still, Somerset’s total of 170 gave St George’s a 57-run victory.

The ladies also had their turn in the spotlight with Somerset coming up victorious as they scored 42-5 in their five overs while St George’s could only push their total to 27. No last names were available [however we will update if able!], but Akilah [12] and Tayah [10] were the high batsmen for Somerset. St George’s Stasha claimed four wickets to lead all bowlers. In reply, St George’s had 27 with wicketkeeper Rachel having a fine knock of 16. Dion added 6 to the St George’s score. Janae took two wickets for Somerset with Tayah and Jahnai, each taking one.

8-year-old Mcaiz Trott won a special award of a gift certificate to Leisure Time and International Sports Shop. The MVP award went to Rohaan Simons, while the Safe Hands Award went to Vance Goater.

At the end of the game, Charlie Marshall announced that there will be an event next year held on the Saturday of Cup Match weekend.
