August 17, 2020

The American Democratic Party is holding the first night of the 2020 Democratic National Convention this evening [Aug 17], with the event being streamed live, as well as being shown across all the major U.S news networks.

The event is scheduled to have speeches from people including former First Lady Michelle Obama, Sen. Bernie Sanders, Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, Gov. Andrew Cuomo, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Rep. Jim Clyburn, Convention Chairman Rep. Bennie Thompson, Rep. Gwen Moore, Former Gov. John Kasich, Sen. Doug Jones, and Sen. Amy Klobuchar, among others.

A CNN story said, “The Democratic National Convention kicks off Monday with a two-hour virtual event built on a theme of unity.

“It will be a convention unlike any other: The coronavirus pandemic forced Democrats to scrap their planned in-person Milwaukee convention.

“Instead, speakers will deliver speeches from locations across the country and without the large in-person crowds that are traditionally seen at these events. All eyes will be on how smoothly the transition to a virtual convention works.”

Update: The live broadcast has concluded and the 2-hour & 17-minute replay is below:
