The 2021 United States presidential inauguration ceremony is being held today [Jan 20] as Joe Biden and Kamala Harris officially take up the roles of President and Vice President of the United States, respectively.
The ceremony is being held amidst increased security in Washington DC in the wake of the deadly events at the city’s Capitol building on January 6.
Joe Biden becomes the 46th President of the United States, while Kamala Harris becomes the first female and first Black and South Asian Vice President in the nation’s history.
