Butterfly Blast Cancelled Due To Weather

September 11, 2020

Friends of Hospice announced that the Butterfly Blast fundraiser scheduled for tomorrow [Sept 12] has been cancelled “due to the pending threat presented by Tropical Storm Paulette.”

A spokesperson said, “Friends of Hospice this morning have made the difficult decision to cancel their annual Butterfly Blast fundraiser scheduled for Saturday, September 12, 2020 at Victoria Park due to the pending threat presented by tropical storm Paulette.”

Friends of Hospice Chairman, Alison Soares explained, “This was not an easy decision for us to reach, but we recognize the impact approaching storms have on our community. It would be unfair to expect volunteers, staff, and event attendees to put aside necessary preparations required at their homes in order to support the event. Obviously, the cancellation will have a negative financial impact on the organization, but the safety of everyone concerned needs to come first.”

“The raffle associated with the event will be held as scheduled tomorrow at 1 pm at Lindo’s Family Foods in Warwick and winners will be posted on social media platforms and advised accordingly.

Jennifer Mahoney, Executive Director of Friends of Hospice stated, “We are extremely grateful to all of our sponsors for their support and the community at large for standing by us during this incredibly difficult time. Although we are extremely disappointed that the event will not be taking place this year, we look forward to putting together an even better event next year.”
