Govt: EMO To Meet About Hurricane Teddy

September 18, 2020

The Minister of National Security Renee Ming will chair an Emergency Measures Organisation [EMO] today to discuss Hurricane Teddy.

A Government spokesperson said, “The Minister of National Security, the Hon. Renee Ming will chair an Emergency Measures Organisation [EMO] today [Sept. 18] to get the latest update on hurricane Teddy.

Hurricane Teddy is currently a threat to the island, and the Bermuda Weather Service [BWS] indicates that Teddy is expected to make a close approach early Monday morning.”

Minister Ming said, “As I said a few weeks ago September and October are notorious for being busy storm months for Bermuda. And we’re seeing this with the back to back hurricanes of Paulette and Teddy.

I know that our residents are feeling incredibly anxious at having to deal with hurricane Paulette and now Teddy against the backdrop of navigating the COVID-19 pandemic. But we cannot let our guard down and we must remain vigilant with our preparations.

“Today I will receive a full update from our EMO government departments and partner agencies regarding any outstanding restoration efforts and the status of our preparedness for hurricane Teddy. It is my aim to update the public following today’s meeting.”
