Magazine And Ammunition Recovered
The police confirmed that the magazine which they reported as missing, as well as all the ammunition it contained, were turned in last evening by a member of the public.
A police spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Police Service can confirm that the magazine which we reported was missing, as well as all the ammunition it contained, were turned in last evening by a member of the public.
“The magazine became dislodged from an officer’s utility belt as he pursued a suspect armed with a knife shortly after four on Wednesday afternoon.
“The BPS would like to thank the individual who did the right thing by handing in the magazine and ammunition.
Commissioner Stephen Corbishley said: “This action by a member of the community may well have prevented any untoward situations occurring, had the ammunition ended up in the wrong hands.
“It’s yet another example of members of the community working with their police service, to ensure a safer Bermuda.”
