Harrington First To Tee Off On Thursday

Padraig Harrington, former PGA Grand Slam of Golf winner at Port Royal, will be in the first group to tee off on Thursday at the Bermuda Championship.
Harrington, Australia’s Matt Jones, and Kelly Kraft of Texas will be off the first tee at 7.35am at Port Royal.
When Harrington won the Grand Slam of Golf in 2012, he beat Master’s winner Bubba Watson, US Open champion Webb Simpson, and Keegan Bradly, an alternate. Being very familiar with Bermuda, Harrington also played the PGA Grand Slam of Golf in 2013 at Port Royal, where he finished behind the Masters, US Open, and PGA winners.
In 2007 and 2008, Harrington was second in the Grand Slam, played at the Mid Ocean Club.
Harrington has won three majors: the Open twice in 2007 and 2008, and the PGA Championship in 2008.
Other major champions who will be competing include Stewart Cink, Jason Dufner, and Danny Willett. Dufner, from the US, competed in the 2013 Grand Slam event at Port Royal, where he finished one spot ahead of Harrington.
The American won the 2013 PGA Championship with five tour victories. Dufner and Willett are in the same threesome with Brendon Todd and will tee off at 8.05am on the tenth tee.
Willett won the 2016 Masters, and the Englishman has one Ryder Cup appearance. Todd was the inaugural winner of the Bermuda Championship last year and has three PGA Tour victories.
Cink won the 2009 Open Championship and has seven PGA Tour wins. Arizona’s Pat Perez and Sweden’s Henrik Stenson are in Cink’s threesome, and they tee off from the 10th at 12.35pm.
The purse for this year’s Bermuda Championship is $4 million, with 500 FedEx Cup points awarded to the winner. The champion will also qualify for the 2021 Masters.
The Bermuda Championship starts on Thursday, with a limited number of tickets still available for $35 for Thursday. Tickets are sold out for the rounds on Friday through Sunday. No tickets will be sold at the gate, but you can purchase them online at bermudachampionship.com.
