Photos: Warwick Academy Celebrates Science
Warwick Academy Primary School transformed their classrooms into laboratories as they celebrated science today [Oct 23], with students dressing up as astronauts, Neil Armstrong, Albert Einstein and some students even dressed up as Bermuda’s own scientific experts Dr. Carika Weldon and Dr. Desiree Spriggs.
A spokesperson said, “Warwick Academy Primary School was buzzing today as they celebrated Science with a fun filled learning day. Classrooms were transformed into laboratories and students dressed up as Jane Goodall, Albert Einstein, Neil Armstrong, Solar systems, astronauts, thunderstorms, and COVID-19 doctors just to name few of the costumes displayed by eager young scientists.
“We were thrilled that several students chose to dress up and celebrate our National science COVID hero’s alumna Dr. Carika Weldon and parent Dr. Desiree Spriggs.
“Student lessons were centered around the fascinating world of experiments, veterinarian practices, space crafts, and much more. Students could be seen making microbes from modeling clay, creating their own lava lamps, letting off film canister rockets, flying paper airplanes and modifying them to make them go further, getting students to replicate how much water [blood]was being pumped in a heart, learning about all the organs in the body and Year 6 even made a special anti-serum to make homework disappear. A wonderful day creating interest and love of the sciences and who know there may be another Dr. Weldon in the making in the Primary School!”
