The Founders Day Ceremony of the Bermuda Islamic Cultural Center officially commemorated the historic implications of the Signing Ceremony on December 17, 2019 between Emir Saleem Talbot and Bishop Wes Spiewack.
A spokesperson said, “The Founders Day Ceremony of the Bermuda Islamic Cultural Center at Winterhaven Cottage, Harrington Sound Road was used to officially commemorate the historic implications of the Signing Ceremony on December 17, 2019 between Emir Saleem Talbot and Bishop Wes Spiewack together with the goodwill of His Excellency the Governor John Rankin.
“The co-founders of the Bermuda Committee on Human Fraternity were joined by the newly elected MP for Constituency 7 Anthony Richardson, together with Arthur Wightman as PWC Bermuda Territory Leader. PWC Bermuda serve as long standing patrons of the X-Roads Warriors FC UT7 Peace Games that were founded in memory of former PWC Bermuda employee Uthmani Talbot who is the son of Emir Saleem Talbot.
“The gathering featured a traditional Tree of Peace and Reconciliation Ceremony together with a bird release on the doorsteps of Winterhaven Cottage that is now being converted to a spiritual sanctuary, learning center and living laboratory for global food security.
“The event brings closure to a preliminary series of public interventions that started on Court Street with the “SpARK of Forgiveness” Candlelight Vigil during New Year’s Eve 2019. The Founders Day ceremony pays tribute to the legacy of recently deceased Professor Elizabeth Greenwell of New Zealand who made it possible for the traditional Feast Day of Saint Francis of Assisi [October 4] as an international date for Global Cooperation in the spirit of the peace treaty that was negotiated with Sultan al-Malik al-Kamil in 1219.
