November 10, 2020

The Bermuda Sloop Foundation [BSF] is expressing its gratitude to the Dill family for “the multiple generous donations the organization has received in memory of the late Nicholas Bayard Dill Jr.”

A spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Sloop Foundation [BSF] would like to extend its sincere gratitude to the Dill family, in honour of the late Mr. Nicholas Bayard Dill Jr.

“As an avid sailor and Chairman Emeritus of the Bermuda Sloop Foundation, the organization has received multiple generous donations in his memory.

“Mrs. Bitten Dill [Mr. Nicholas Dill Jr's wife] was recently presented with a hand-made model of the Spirit of Bermuda. The family genuinely appreciated our gesture and will continue their steadfast support of the Bermuda Sloop Foundation.”

Paying tribute to Mr. Dill’s “long-standing input and support,” David Goodwin, the current BSF Chairman, said, “Mr. Dill’s dedication, wise council and affection for the Bermuda Sloop Foundation have made a significant difference to our education programs, and for many of Bermuda’s youth, in a truly transformational way.

“Bermuda has lost another real Bermudian character whose family has deep roots here and provide enormous support for sustaining our rich heritage. They also have always been known to give back to the community.

“These kind donations in Mr. Dill’s honor will provide the opportunity for more of our middle school students to receive impactful academic and life skills experiences aboard the Spirt of Bermuda. We are deeply honored to be the Dill Family’s chosen charity.”

The spokesperson said, “Donations in Mr. Dill’s memory may be made to the Bermuda Sloop Foundation at P. O. Box HM2442, Hamilton HM JX [or via direct deposit to Clarien Bank: 4010042777].
