Officials Tour St. Regis Bermuda Resort Site
Minister of Home Affairs Walter Roban along with others visited the St. Regis Bermuda Resort site for a tour and progress update from the developers.
A Government spokesperson said, “On Thursday, November 5th 2020 Minister of Home Affairs the Hon. Walter Roban JP, MP visited the St. Regis Bermuda Resort site in St. George’s for a tour and progress update from the developers.

“It is good to see this project nearing completion and I am excited to see the finished resort property, which will not only benefit the people of St. George’s – but Bermuda as a whole,” said Minister Roban.
He continued: “It should be noted that there has been over $150 million worth of investment into this St. Regis development so far and it is anticipated that around 200 jobs will be created to operate the resort complex.

Thank you OBA!
You mean the obaUBP 6
No he means the political Party that got this development off the ground. PLP is good at blowing up hotels. Building them up, not so much.
Thanks. Love how UBP is supposed to be such a negative set of initials I don’t understand why when Bermuda was under the UBP government everything was working well with no unemployment and no debt. Under the UBP we had a middle class who were black and white, international business and tourism were booming. It took the plp a few short years to derail what was the envy of Western world and now the base throw around the name UBP like it was something terrible and if you ask why they feel that way they cannot answer.
The initials UPB are meant to refer to a legacy of racism.
So, the UBP is racist…despite having party members representing all Bermudians.
The PLP is openly homophobic….easily found buy a google search…yet, they’re held up as the bastion of all good and fair. LOL
This simply makes the majority of Bermudians look like hypocrites.
Shouldn’t you ask all the people that change the rich UBP name to the poor 6 side OBA name aka ONE BROKEN ALLIANCE???
Do you ever get tired of sounding like a broken (child’s) record player ?
I bet you can’t counter a single thing wahoo said . And squealing ’30-6′ and ‘name changes’ is the same as saying nothing at all .
Thanks to the OBA. What is the PLP doing to benefit Bermuda?
Is the Minister aware of the financing of this project? Very brave to take credit.
Gotta Love the photo op …plp fought every day against this development now they will tell all how great this will be ….fought every day against America Cup and the monies spent by rich white men but we are going to build a marina for super yachts its a mystery on what they really want…plp have tried to bury St.Georges but now its important ..what gives …Roban says we have the qualified staff to operate the 5 star hotel where have they been hiding them we are very aware we have never had a 5 star hotel in Bermuda
The fact of the matter is that this is a classic case of the OBA talking about getting stuff done and the PLP actually delivering for Bermuda and Bermudians. Don’t be fooled into thinking this is an OBA project, this is a success on the PLPs watch.
Classic? I’ll keep this comment and post it in early December when the PLP praise the opening of the new airport.
What large projects is Bermuda looking forward to that the PLP started, apart from the mountain of debt?
Hahahaha. You PLPers are hilarious.
In 2015 when the legislation for this hotel was put forth your beloved PLP attempted to spread so misinformation as a means to rile up supporters such as yourself against this development.
But I understand your need to rewrite history as your PLP has failed (once again) miserably on the economic front. And miss me with that Covid-19 excuse as GDP was contracting in 2019 Unfortunately for devotees such as yourself the internet never forgets. But I am confident that facts mean nothing to you. Sheep.
Why would the PLP not praise the new airport? While admittedly an OBA idea the project has flourished under the PLP and will no doubt be a great success under the PLP. If under the OBA we would just be looking at half completed buildings with dodgy financing, just take a look at Morgan’s Point. The PLP are on watch and things are moving.
You’re rewriting history. The OBA got this off the ground despite the protestations and lies spewed by your PLP against it and the developers in 2015. Let me know if you want to provide the articles to remind you.
PLP did absolutely nothing for this development when they came to power. They didnt alter the contractual terms etc. So no they had nothing to do with the success of this project. Not one thing.
But I understand why you need to rewrite history as your Party has no economic accomplishments to note. Well other then overseeing a decline in our GDP in the latter half of 2019 when our trading partners saw an economic boom. That was impressive. Well done. And yes, that was prior to Covid by the way, so miss me with that excuse.
The oba got the airport off the ground and got their party buried in the GROUND!!!
Kinda contradicting yourself there.
Morgan’s Point failed under the PLP reign. And they did not alter the financing arrangements for St. Regis when they regained power.
So if the St. Regis development is considered a PLP success by you then Morgan’s Point should then be considered a PLP failure by your logic.
Are you smoking crack?
…the OBA did the whole project and the PLP came in power when it was already under construction…
Not sure how it works to give the PLP credit.
Because when your Party has no economic accomplishments to note you have to try and rewrite history to hide such facts. I dont blame him for his efforts to do so.
This is comedy genius. Yet people will still believe it.
If the Minister took the tour on 5th November, how come it has taken 10 more days for it to be a news item?
Maybe the People’s Campaign will demonstrate at the Grand Opening.
They should surround the place and not let anyone in!
Didn’t the OBA tour the hospital…
3 previous failures and now Covid infects the World
