Athene Donates To Big Brothers & Big Sisters
[Updated] Inspired by the spirit of the season, Athene Life Re employees recently donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters Of Bermuda, collecting over 8,000 items and donating $5,000.
A spokesperson said, “After learning many individuals were facing a pressing need for toiletries and food items, the Athene Charity Committee hosted a drive that collected over 8,000 items for Bermuda families.
“The items were recently delivered to Big Brothers Big Sisters, and the organization has set up an in-office grocery store where individuals can ‘shop’ for what they need. In addition, the Athene Charity Committee also donated $5,000 to Big Brothers Big Sisters to be put toward the organization’s various initiatives.
“In a year that – for so many – has been defined by loss and hardships, Athene is proud to partner with amazing organizations like Big Brothers Big Sisters to support the Bermuda community.”

“We recognize the ongoing impact the pandemic is having on our community and hope that this donation will make the holiday season a bit brighter for the children and families in Bermuda who need our support the most.”

When we heard there were families in need of food and toiletries heading into the holidays, our employees immediately answered the call and raised over 8,000 essential items.

Patrina Paynter, managing director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bermuda, said, “The Athene Life Re staff has done an amazing job of truly showing that they care about Bermuda’s children and families,” said . “We have set the BBBS office up like a grocery store where people can come choose food and toiletry items.
“Many individuals have been overwhelmed by the simple act of being able to select exactly what they need during a year that has been defined by such loss. We are very grateful to Athene, its employees and the support they’ve provided our community this holiday season.”
