CURB Grateful For Third Point Re Donation
Citizens Uprooting Racism in Bermuda [CURB] said they are grateful to Third Point Re for their $140,000 donation, with CURB noting that they have “experienced an intense surge in demand from individuals and groups who are sincerely committed to understanding and addressing the experience of racism here in Bermuda.”
A spokesperson said, “Over the last six months, ignited by the murder of George Floyd in May, matters of race and racial justice have been of intense mainstream relevance, which has prompted global reflection and action on how the legacy of anti-black racism continues to manifest and effect individuals and communities in the present.
“As part of this, CURB’s programming and resources have experienced an intense surge in demand from individuals and groups who are sincerely committed to understanding and addressing the experience of racism here in Bermuda.
“As a result, since July, our team has delivered workshops and presentations to over 250 people, representing the Bermuda Police Service, the Bermuda Bar Association, ABIC, Athene Re, Bacardi, Butterfield Bank and others. It’s been an inspiration to support these groups in their racial inclusion and diversity endeavors, and we’ve been humbled by their willingness to give urgent attention to these matters.
“As you’re aware, our team is comprised entirely of volunteers, aside from a part-time Program Coordinator, who understand the need to develop and deliver programming, resources and advocacy at the highest standards, and who aptly do so.
“Though our team is committed and capable, as a very active and in-demand charity we are grateful to receive the support that allows us to ensure the continued refinement and availability of our resources.
“Recently, Third Point Re made a substantial donation of $140,000.00 to CURB that allows us to do this. We could not be more grateful to their financial commitment and their commitment internally to equity and inclusion in their organisational practices.”
