Antoine Daniels, Assistant Commissioner of Police – Crime, praised the officers involved for “their good work in effecting this seizure.”

He said, “Thanks to the usual high level of investigative work done by the members of our Drugs Unit, an estimated six hundred and eighty four thousand dollars-worth of cannabis was prevented from making it onto Bermuda’s streets.

“This was another joint initiative with our partner agency, H.M. Customs. Our combined efforts continue to be successful in ensuring that not only controlled drugs, but other forms of contraband, including, illegal firearms are kept off our streets, helping to ensure the safety and wellbeing of residents.”

Detective Superintendent Nicholas Pedro, Officer in charge – Serious Crime, added: “The cannabis seized will now be analysed at an approved laboratory.

“Once the results of that analysis are known, it is expected a court appearance will follow.”
