New Five-Day Pre-Travel Covid Testing In Effect

December 4, 2020 | 0 Comments

Effective today [Dec 4] all visitors to Bermuda are required to have a negative PCR screening test no more than five days before arriving on the island — which is a change from an earlier seven-day protocol, the BTA has noted.

A BTA spokesperson said, “If you’re expecting clients, colleagues, family or friends travelling into Bermuda this month, please note a rule change taking effect today for pre-arrival COVID-19 screening tests.

“Effective December 4, all visitors to Bermuda are required to have a negative PCR screening test no more than five days before arriving on the island [this is a change from an earlier seven-day protocol].

“Returning residents are also strongly encouraged to get tested before travelling—or face an eight-day quarantine after landing. As previously, the negative test must be uploaded into Bermuda’s online Travel Authorisation application one to three days before departure for public-health approval.

“If you’re flying to Bermuda from the New York area, you can get COVID-19 PCR screening through our special arrangement with OpenClear. In December, testing will be offered on Tuesday, December 8 and Tuesday, December 15 at our mid-town office [by appointment only].

“The service, which meets the Bermuda Government’s new five-day protocol, is designed to help visitors from the New York City area, as well as returning island residents, obtain a COVID-19 test result for the required Travel Authorisation process.

“OpenClear offers a variety of tests and turnaround times, with prices starting at $199. All clients must provide proof of travel to the island within five days [flight number, flight date].
