“AME Women in Ministry[AME/WIM] is the official professional organization for women pursuing excellence in ministry in the African Methodist Episcopal [AME] Church. And is the prophetic voice for parity and justice through advocacy and activism for women in ministry.
“As an international organization, AME/WIM is active in each of the 20 Episcopal Districts. AME/WIM serves, encourages and supports the work of women in Christian ministry. Currently, over four thousand women serve in ministerial capacities throughout the African Methodist Episcopal Church.
“The First Episcopal District of the AME Church is comprised of New York, New England, Philadelphia, Delaware, New Jersey. Western New York and Bermuda. There are over 600 licensed and/or ordained women in the First Episcopal District and the current president for AME/WIM is the Rev. Dr. Emilygail Dill of Bermuda.”
Rev. Dr. Dill stated “The theme for this year’s Summit, “Iron Sharpens Iron”, speaks to our renewed realization that as co-laborers in the Gospel, we need to strengthen each other. The year 2020 and the onslaught of the Covid-19 pandemic brought many challenges that caused us to have to become more prayerful, more creative, expand our knowledge, hone our gifts and depend on each other for support, direction, resources and fellowship in spite of diminished opportunities for large gatherings and in-person encounters.
“The re-emergence of racial tension in multiple communities along with increased socio-economic demands have challenged us to embark on ministry outside of the walls and develop new partnerships to impact change.”
In addition to the the Virtual Town Hall, the 2021 WIM Summit will include an Opening Plenary, dynamic workshops, an interactive lunch led by the Connectional AME Health Commission, a Young Clergy Women’s Panel Discussion and a Sending Forth by the Episcopal Supervisor, Rev. Dr. Jessica Ingram. Admission to the Friday night Virtual Town Hall is free of charge and open to all. Interested persons may register and watch at www.firstdistrictamec.org. Saturday’s Summit registration is $25 per person and can be accessed at www.ptix.bm. For further information visit www.ptix.bm or contact Rev.
