Clarien Donates $2,500 To Alzheimer’s Charity

February 15, 2021

Clarien Bank has been praised for their donation to a local charity helping those living with Alzheimer’s and dementia in Bermuda, along with their families and caregivers, which will help the organisation revamp its website and start accepting donations online.

Grainne Richmond, Treasurer of Action on Alzheimer’s & Dementia [AAD] Bermuda said the $2,500 gift from Clarien Bank would help the not-for-profit organisation revamp its website and start accepting donations online – something crucial for the charity in the aftermath of the pandemic.

“It came to our attention last year that our website needed upgrading in order to better meet the needs of our community,” Ms. Richmond said.

“Our biggest challenge was our inability to accept donations online. Additionally, we realised there was some room for improvement when it came to communicating with our three key stakeholders groups, including: those living with Alzheimer’s, their caretakers and families, as well as donors.

“With this generous donation from Clarien Bank, we are now able to update and upgrade our website, making it easier for users to get the information they need and for us to make an even bigger impact in the Bermuda community,” she added.

Founded in 2012, AAD offers practical resources and much-needed support to those living with Alzheimers and Dementia. They provide financial assistance for medications and equipment to those in need.

AAD also organises weekly activities for those with dementia through a partnership with WindReach Recreational Village in Warwick, and Peace Lutheran Church in Paget—including art, music, laughter therapy, bocce ball and animal interaction.

Michael DeCouto, Clarien’s EVP, Chief Digital & Marketing Officer, stated, “Clarien is pleased to support Action on Alzheimer’s and Dementia in its mission to help those with dementia in Bermuda. One of the bank’s main aspirations is to be Digital Bank of Choice in Bermuda, so giving a worthy organisation the tools and resources it needs to move online is very rewarding for us.”
