Former Premier Dr Ewart Brown appeared in Supreme Court today [April 1] via video link but did not have to enter a plea on 13 counts which relate to alleged corruption.

Dr Brown’s next court date is scheduled for May. He was represented by Queen’s Counsel Jerome Lynch, while the Director of Public Prosecutions Cindy Clarke represented the Crown.

The charges relate to time frames spanning 2001 to 2010, with the allegations that while being the holder of public office as a Government Minister and as Premier, he corruptly asked for and received benefits, with the total amount in question allegedly exceeding $4 million, with some, but not all, of the charges related to an agreement with Lahey Clinic.

Dr Brown remains on $200,000 bail with one like surety.
