Please Stop Calling 911 About Covid Regulations

April 20, 2021

The police have yet again reminded the public that “the 911 number is for emergencies only,” noting that their “communications staff are being inundated with callers seeking information on Covid regulations and guidelines.”

A police spokesperson said, “Once again our communications staff are being inundated with callers seeking information on Covid regulations and guidelines.

“We remind the public the 911 number is for emergencies only. The 211 number is for the reporting of crimes.

“For questions or information regarding the novel coronavirus, Covid-19, please call the government Covid information number, 444-2498. Alternatively, you should visit: https://www.gov.bm/coronavirus.”

  1. Question says:

If the Minister of National Security is unable to answer basic questions about the regulations, you get what you get. It’s absolutely reasonable that people call you and find out what they are allowed to do.

    • come on says:

well that’s why they listed the government Covid information number, so that 911 EMERGENCY LINE is available for you know… EMERGENCIES. idiot.

      • Question says:

Or maybe we should expect government ministers responsible for lockdowns and curfews to be able to explain it. Idiot. GFY.

      • Mark says:

You mean the line they never answer or the 211 snitch line for people like you.

  2. Mark says:

Maybe if Ming and Wilson could provide coherent information in a press conference the public wouldn’t need to check with the Police for clarification.

  3. wahoo says:

Can someone please tell me what number I should call to rent the Horticultural hall for my birthday party?

  4. 211 to report incompetence says:

$3,000 fines for not following the rules is no joke. But that press conference was a joke.

A press conference to share the new rules and neither Minister had even read the rules!!!!

So BPS who do we call in the situation when we want to know what the rules are and the COVID line is closed or no answer because you are arresting people who were late for curfew because they were trying to save their business and livelihood from a flood; so yes, I want to know the rules and it seems like so does the majority of the population based on the number of people who tune in to the press conferences and the fact people feel they have to call the BPS to clarify, proves we want to know and follow the law!!!

The rules decided on Sunday morning should have been published Monday morning for all to see!

I actually watched that press conference in total disbelief! Apparently the Ministers don’t need to follow rules, they have exemptions!!!!!
